Harmony Building

Peace and Conflict Resolution

It has been well documented that the people of Cambodia are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as a direct result of the atrocities committed by the Pol Pot regime.  This trauma has resulted in unacceptable levels of domestic violence, and arguments with neighbours. Sadly, these stresses are now being passed on to the next generation.

MECC/BFT has organised Volunteer monks to visit the school and conduct moral education and harmony building classes, for both the adults, and the children.  It is hoped by introducing

moral education and counselling, these problems can be addressed.

Although the Monks don’t get paid, this is quite a costly program to run, as we need to support the pagoda where the monks live, provide food, travel costs and provide family crisis assistance where necessary

  • The Real Cambodia

    Dr King Gan - Founder

My first visit to Cham Resh was in March 2009 with the Outreach team from the Angkor Hospital for Children They were conducting an education session on the management of diarrhoea in children. In the Q&A period I was asked by one of the mothers for a well for the village. The only source of drinking water was from a dirty pond. As I looked at the scene of the village and its people: malnourished naked children, poor shelter, lack of clean water, and a dilapidated primary school, no or little livelihood. I realized the real issue was abject POVERTY!!

THIS IS THE REAL CAMBODIA!!! THE LAND OF POOR!!

I was very moved by the plight of the villagers and decided to start a project to help them. So MECC was founded.
