Nutrition

Chronic malnutrition is prevalent in the rural areas in Cambodia with 45 % stunting. This is a major health issue as a malnourished child has a poor immune system to combat illness. This is one of the major contributing causes of infant mortality.

Since December 2010 a feeding program commenced at the primary school. It provides a      meal a day.   Monitoring and recording student nutritional status by measuring height and weight has commenced.

A full time caretaker has been employed to maintain the school and start a school vegetable garden. In the future, produce from the garden will be used to provide a nutritious meal a day for the students.

Donate $50  per year to provide a meal a day for a student This includes wages for a full time gardener/caretaker and a cook

All donations are tax deductable in Australia. You will receive your Tax receipt courtesy of Rotary Australia Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS)

    Dr King Gan - Founder

My first visit to Cham Resh was in March 2009 with the Outreach team from the Angkor Hospital for Children They were conducting an education session on the management of diarrhoea in children. In the Q&A period I was asked by one of the mothers for a well for the village. The only source of drinking water was from a dirty pond. As I looked at the scene of the village and its people: malnourished naked children, poor shelter, lack of clean water, and a dilapidated primary school, no or little livelihood. I realized the real issue was abject POVERTY!!

THIS IS THE REAL CAMBODIA!!! THE LAND OF POOR!!

I was very moved by the plight of the villagers and decided to start a project to help them. So MECC was founded.
